There are things we do or we don't do that we will regret when we aged 50 or 60 and beyond. These could be the life's lessons someday so let us make each day count.
1. Not taking more pictures of own or with person (s) that matter. This may sound very simple and even nonsense but here's the thing - you will really feel it when times come you reached 50's and you reminisce the pasts like missing the former colleagues you used to work with during your young years, when you cannot see again how you were looked like when you were sporting haircut that suited you, wearing those favorite clothes, how was with family and friends, then you will regret for not even taking pictures. It is sad when you get old and you cannot find a picture that can tell the importance of those occasions, visited places, happy moments, and those small things that you missed to capture and record.
2. Not prioritizing savings, health and life insurance or investing while young. No matter how tough life is and how small you save, when these small amounts accumulated as times pass, you will really appreciate your effort. Time is really our enemy that when time comes and you don't have enough savings, your old age will regret you because no matter how much you want to work and earn but your age, body, and health will not allow you. Investing in your health pays, you can save from extra expenses for immune sick. Someday, spending your savings and pension for medication for the rest of your life is a waste of wealth. A healthy old person is better than someone who suffers chronic illness.
3. Not traveling while young. Regretting money? Remember that time is the only currency you cannot earn back - spend it wisely. If you can do it even in economical way - then do it by all means. Money and job can wait but not the times. It will be sad that when you retire, all you will remember that the only places you have been to are your office and home. It will be really very sad. Or let us say when you retired and have saved up but you can no longer go travel because of failing stamina or maybe other priority, then that would be a big regret and remorse. The same with not doing what your heart wants because you are afraid other people will not like it or will be affected. Do it now because someday, time will come you may not be interested on that but at least you did it. Or if someday you realized you really need to do it but you are already unable, that will be the regret that will haunt you until you lost your times.
4. Doing less, not doing more. Because of you fear of failure, you don't want to get hurt, you avoid complicity, you don't risk uncertain maybe because you are perfectionist, or simply you don't want to take the chance because you are not confident of yourself, then you will not just do things to find your success, your place, yourself. You are wasting the opportunities. People tend to regret not doing more because not doing the "what ifs" will haunt you thinking what would really happen if you tried. What if you succeed? What if you found it?
5. Being over boss Imposing authority to set your superiority is just being bossy. It tends you authoritarian when you feel you have screaming credentials and too intelligent. When you are obsessed on the idea that you can and should be the boss, and you should be obeyed because you are the boss who knows what should happen, then you are not earning respect but a title recall only. When you retired, you will be remembered as a terror boss. And instead of them recognizing you, the common reactions, would be hates and uncomforting stories from those you badly treated in your search to success.
6. Living alone to avoid problems. Interaction is essentially necessary to learn what's good and not. Living independently to the point of distrusting and fearing of conflicts with others is not healthy. Being asocial to avoid human-relation suggests you the source of conflicts because you do not know how to interact well. Believing that "being alone is not complicated" is deceiving. No one is problem-free. We will commit and will commit mistakes, meet mischievous people, and may need to leam the hard way to realize the lesson but these must happen. Go out. Learn life's lessons. Living in seclusion, you are missing the wisdom of life that you need to leam while growing old. And when you've grown older, you will feel that you are incomplete, not matured enough and inexperienced to handle the life.
7. Faking the life you are living. It stems from unanswered prayer difficult to get the utmost ambition, then you try so hard to make ways just for your yearning to experience the moment. Leave it. Do not live like CEO if you are not really a CEO because you will not have contentment and peace of mind. You can lie others but not to yourself because you know very well who really you are. Times will pass then someday, you will feel worn-out and wasted on those efforts just to make it real because nothing is really true that you can take credit and you will still feel incomplete and failed.
