WHEN WRITING WENT WRONG

During President Duterte’s early days in the office, several times I heard from his speeches he said that there is time of reckoning, and I believed in that.  Everything has its end and everything that is evil, bad and wrong must end.

When I first read a Sassot’s article, I must admit that I admired his art of writing.  It seemed that he is full of knowledge, he has many resources, and he knows how to write piece of writing, commentary, analysis, and etcetera.  But not long after, I‘d noticed something is fishy on his successive articles that I read and that is suspecting his being propagandist until I have proven it myself.  When he kept on praising all things about Duterte and maligning all about non-Duterte, this how I concluded.  And I knew then, he had just using to be patriotic via his allegedly concern for the Mother Land.  From then on, I wasted no time to read his writings because they are just such toxic that can ruin my cause, stand and even my spirit.

In any given time, I never trusted Mocha.  Her credibility or reputation is simply not pleasant for me.  It is not about her being one of those have been sexy starlets but it is her principle.  I can say she is the “mother” of all fake news.  She has written so much, regardless if unverified and they cemented our divisiveness.  Opportunist at its best, she mastered the 360 degrees turn when there is change of wind.  A once Noynoy Aquino self proclaimed admirer and suddenly a loyal die-hard supporter of she calls tatay Digong.  She has agenda.  When she claimed that she is not after any position why she is doing her political blogging but later she accepted post as appointee not once but twice, it is her true color.  Also when she declared her plan to run for public office, I was a little worried she could win because of her huge social media followers but I was full surprised when she did not make it.

R.J. Nieto was in disguise via his pen name and behind the biased political pro-admin blog called Thinking Pinoy.  Reading his articles that obviously a partisan, from the start I knew already this kind of writing was propaganda.  Maybe paid I didn’t know yet but when he exposed himself and associated himself in many government events, I doubted his sincerity in writing.  He is in the payroll of certain politicians, payroll that comes from taxpayers of pro and anti.  Isn’t it wasting money rather than using it in most needed assistance to the poorest of the poor people?

He marked to me as strong DDS although he is not as popular as the three propagandists of Duterte administration but Mr. Riyoh has severe way of attacking the opponents and approving way of elevating Duterte.  He used videos in spreading biased opinions and his market is the rugged overseas Filipino workers.  I am not comfortable watching his video vlogs.  The words are rugged and relatively violent and content is purely partisan.  I do not know if they are still the same until now.  Since he uses basically Tagalog language in his propaganda, it easily captured most of rugged OFWs.

My gauge is simple: when a person has all-praise and has anything but good to someone but has nothing to say good to other side – that is fanatics.  I am not intellectually gifted but I can comprehend in the matter of spreading fake news.  While some of my relatives, friends, colleague and acquaintances showed full support to these purveyors of fake news, I cannot understand why they patronize the obviously irresponsible, unauthenticated and fabricated stories.  Then later I realized, they are just either merely disappointed with previous administration, blind supporter of the current administration or both.

I wish to come the day of reckoning for Sass, Mocha, Nieto et. al. to teach them that everything has its own end.  Regardless if it is right or wrong, they used their flat form for their personal gain even it brought confusion amongst the netizens and poisoned the minds of the gullible netizens.  I feel pity, sorry, and regretful to the talent of these people when they used writing in selfish way: disrespect and destruction to journalism.  I think it is not in the correct grammar or syntax error that writing can be best of not but it is in the effects that it brought to the readers.  So when these fake stories made us influenced, that is the time when writing went wrong.
