DOING YOUR BEST

(The following story was published in 2009 4th quarter JAL Focus, a company newsletter)
==========

Our struggles in life can be compared in every heart-pulping auditions and tryouts we go through when we are planning to join in a sports team, a musical show or talent search. In auditions, we most likely set our best foot forward to make positive impression and receive favourable remarks from tough judges. The insightful and comprehensive evaluation of jurors to ensure win in competition requires the best we can do. For there is no second chance to make a first impression during tryout, then it is the only time to give the best of us. It’s a matter of make it or break it, it’s do or die, it’s now or never. Our performance in tryout will bring the difference between being on the team and being on our way home.

Like in tryouts and auditions, making this attitude as personal creed in your daily life will unquestionably bring you in good place. Put your heart in every effort you are doing for it is better to end the day in that way rather than battling in deep regrets for your fault deed. Do not leave a space of guilt that will hound you by deep remorse. Today is the very foundation of your future life, making the best of you is shaping your future. The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today. Never settle for anything less than your best for in doing so, you will not have to worry about failure. Do your best today for you’re not sure if you’ll have the same chance again to do it tomorrow. You can’t go back again to the past. As Oprah Winfrey quoted, “My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment”.

Truly, what you plant today is what you will reap. In a supposed tough interview when I was applying for job, I tried to show my best to get the position I am applying for. To do that, I firmly prepared myself for the scheduled date of the interview by identifying my personality, strengths and goals. At the day of the interview, I was certainly confident with myself talking my skills, views and perspective. And at the end of the turned into pleasant interview, I was optimistic to get the positive result. Days after that interview, I was given the chance of working in one of the leading banks in my country. To get your first and foremost goal in life is not possible if you are doing the right thing with your best. Though it may look and sound tough task but being prepared makes it an easy assignment.

The phrase “garbage in-garbage out” is practical life situation that is happening in our real world in every moments. The integrity of our completed works in terms of quality is depending on the integrity of our work attitude. Doing the very best is the right thing from the peril of competition. If we are not giving our full 100% focus, attention and skills, then what will we expect during promotion time? Keep and live each day with your great passion in every way. At the end of the day, we’re only as good as the last great thing we did. At least anytime you wish to say it’s done, you don’t have to catch up the lost time, effort and things, making up for improvement, and you’ll be ready to leave an important, impressive and remarkable legacy.

The very purest essence of doing your best in everything you do is the state of creating a top, high quality and strong personality in yourself. Each day you completed with high regards in doing the best, you are growing tougher and better, you are becoming a person with good reputation, you are becoming the man of respected name.
