HOPING FOR THE BEST

(The following story was published in 2009 2nd Quarter issue of JAL Focus, a company newsletter).
==========

“When you look at the world in a narrow way – how narrow it seems! When you look at it in a mean way – how mean it is! When you look at it selfishly – how selfish it is! But when you look at it in a broad, generous, friendly spirit – what wonderful people you find in it.” (Horace Rutledge)

Things can possibly happen that we really believe in for life is how we look at it – we are what we deem we are. This is the magical truth of having positive attitude. Positive attitude attracts positive outcome because the feedback we receive from world is the reflection of our behavior. We are according to our actions. Every single word we spoke, every movement we did, any impression we seized will either advantage or hamper us in fostering success. Karma is the cause and effect of our actions in its next existence and the force generated by our deeds to perpetuate in its ethical consequences. This is the effect of putting your own doze of medicine.

Imagine an office with negative adages clearly plastered in its sides and corners. Reading these negative slogans radiates dismal atmosphere and exudes low morale in the work place. We may have surrounded with people who have negative points of view about the job, colleagues, organization and even the environment. In this pool of low spirited workers, it is really hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkey. But in here is the apparent opportunity of strong probability to independently exist, surpass and rise above from the rest.

If our aura which shows our overall characteristic is enthusiastic, confident and optimistic – we are sending out positive messages that indeed motivates. On contrary, negative outlooks were transmitted from pessimistic, critic, and cynical persons. Between optimism and pessimism, which attitude do you think gets better result and favorably replied when you are trying to influence people? After all, the person in charge will pick someone who is more positive.

Anticipate the best possible outcome, nothing is wrong with having our goals really high and trying to fairly achieve them – that is admirable. If you believe you can fly you have to spread your wings and fly for nothing is incredibly impossible for those who closely believe – it’s uplifting positive outlook. Amidst of your self confidence, you must always bear in mind that there is a thin line between confident and conceited. You are not exhibiting your positive attitude, confidence and wisdom to earn appreciation and respect but rather exploiting your sense of fighting spirit to achieve your aspiration.

Failure does not mean the end but can be just the beginning. Do not look at it against instead take it as challenge. Take it as an opportunity for experience, knowledge or even happiness. Misfortune can be looked in positive way by standing on its head and evolve it into something good. If you are experiencing the feeling of giving up, defeat and despair, if you feel all your struggles are falling, if result and challenge push favorably against you, then find the way to stand and climb up again on the wagon of battle – it’s never say die spirit. If worse comes to worst, planning to adopt the alternative helps to start easier. After all, life is circle of ups and downs from beginning to end.
